CompostFit sits right in your pull-out cabinet next to your trash. Pull your trash bag to the side and connect it to the edge of CompostFit — giving you a dedicated compost partition without any extra bags or accessories.

  • Wide opening fits all sizes of paper plates and bulky items.
  • Built-in finger holes — lift out and dump straight into your green bin or outdoor compost.
  • Separate the two telescoping pieces for the dishwasher — clip is washable too.
How it works

Four steps. One motion each.

No installation. No new trash workflow. No countertop clutter.

STEP 01
Green COMPOST rim placed on top of the pull-out trash can

Place the rim on your trash can.

Set the CompostFit rim on top of your pull-out trash can. It sits right on the edge and creates a dedicated compost opening.

STEP 02
Trash bag pulled to the side and connected to the edge of the CompostFit rim

Connect your trash bag to the edge.

Pull your existing trash bag to the side and hook it over the rim. No extra bags needed — your regular trash bag handles the trash side.

California · SB 1383

Made for California's organic waste law — without making you think about it.

If you live in California, SB 1383 changed what belongs in the green cart. CompostFit was designed to make that effortless — not stressful.

California's SB 1383 asks every resident to separate food waste and food-soiled paper — paper plates, napkins, paper towels, greasy cardboard — from regular trash.

It's a longer list than people realize. And most kitchen compost bins on the market are tiny 1–3 gallon countertop pails with a small opening. Try fitting a dirty paper plate in one of those.

CompostFit gives all of it a proper home — right inside the cabinet you already use for trash.

The other bins were designed for banana peels and coffee grounds — not for everything California's law actually covers.
What customers are saying
Finally — a full-size paper plate actually fits. My countertop pail was a joke. Also my counter is back.
The dishwasher part is what sold me. I'd given up on composting because of the cleaning. This is the first setup I've actually stuck with.
Got a contamination notice from my hauler over food-soiled paper. This solved it in one afternoon — compost and trash in the same drawer, no fight.

FAQ

Answers before you ask.

SB 1383 is California's short-lived climate pollutants law. It requires every resident and business in the state to separate organic waste — food scraps and food-soiled paper — from regular trash. Haulers can issue contamination notices for non-compliance, and those can come with fees. If you live in California, it affects you.

Why it matters: food waste in landfills doesn't just sit there — it decomposes without oxygen and produces methane, a greenhouse gas roughly 80× more potent than CO₂ over a 20-year period. Organic waste is the single largest category of material sent to landfills in the U.S., making up about 24% of what we throw away. Diverting it to compost keeps methane out of the atmosphere and turns waste into soil.
CompostFit drops right into your pull-out kitchen trash can. You pull your trash bag to the side and connect it to the edge of CompostFit, creating a partition between compost and trash. No extra bags, no installation.
In CompostFit: food scraps (fruit, veg, meat, dairy, bones, coffee grounds), paper plates, napkins, paper towels, food-soiled cardboard.

In the trash: plastics, foil, styrofoam, non-organic packaging — everything that isn't food or food-soiled paper.
Yes. That's the whole point. The opening is wide enough for all sizes of paper plates laid flat. The full-depth design means bulky items don't jam at the top.
CompostFit is currently designed for the Rev-A-Shelf RV-35 (35 Qt) and RV-50 (50 Qt) pull-out trash cans — the most common pull-out trash cans in North American kitchens. If you have a pull-out trash can built into your cabinet that slides out on a track, there's a good chance it's one of these. Takes up about 1/3 of the bin space — trash keeps the rest. More sizes are coming soon.
Grab the built-in finger holes, lift CompostFit straight out of the trash can, and dump it into your green bin or outdoor compost. No flipping, no scraping — just lift and dump.
Separate the two telescoping pieces and put them in the dishwasher. The clip can be washed too if it's dirty. No scrubbing, no hand-washing.
Yes. CompostFit is made from ABS plastic, which is heat-resistant up to 80°C (176°F) — well above standard dishwasher temperatures. Top-rack safe on normal and heavy cycles.
We're targeting fall 2026 for the first production run. Pre-orders ship in the order they're placed. You pay nothing today — we'll email when yours is ready.
Absolutely. Even if your area doesn't mandate composting yet, CompostFit makes it effortless to start. Several states are following California's lead with similar organic waste laws — Washington, Oregon, New York, Vermont, and others.
